SERPENT AND THE SUN

Long ago, before the earth and sky were fully apart, the Sun watched over the world. Her light brought life to all living things. Yet, for all she created, she felt lonely in the vastness of her skies.

One day, as her rays stretched across the earth, a small glimmer caught her eye—it flickered like a distant star and pulled at her heart. As she descended, the glimmer grew brighter. It was the Serpent Prince—coiling through stone, his jeweled scales reflecting her light.

He ruled the deep, powerful and wise, yet his heart was empty too. The Sun, who had always looked down upon the world, now saw herself reflected—her light dancing across his skin. And the Serpent, who had only known the cold ground, felt her warmth stir something long buried.
Each evening, the Sun slipped beneath the horizon to be with him. Their love made the earth bloom.

But the gods grew uneasy. The Sun belonged to the heavens, the Serpent to the depths. To keep the balance, they cast a cruel decree: the Serpent was bound to the roots, and the Sun was forced to climb back into the sky, never to return.

Yet the gods could not undo what love had made bloom. It lingers in the way the flowers turn their faces to the sky.
And the Sun? She still searches for her beloved every day—which is why she keeps moving across the heavens.
